I've used 'em all. MP3 Rocket is the best, by far.

No red flags here. Openings don't come around often at the TNT, and in the past two cases it was a matter of opportunities arising elsewhere (major metro, ESPN). This is a great job, a great chance to work with/learn from good, smart people. If you have lead design experience, pounce on this...

I believe the EE approves all newsroom hires, but Rob is conducting the search, doing the filtering and making the recommendation. He'd be the one to talk to, but it could be moot since it looks like there's consensus on this move.

Good guys all, but it's a strange setup. The SE isn't a traditional SE. He's actually minimally involved in sports (he oversees business and some other things at the behest of the EE, an old Kansas City Star buddy). That leaves two ASEs (one day, one night, down from the three they had six years...

Good job, good people. (And the area is nowhere near the dump some suggest it is/used to be.) There's a concerted effort to get younger in the department, but that stems less from a desire to save money and more from a desire to innovate. There's a growing emphasis on Web presence, as is the...

    The biscuit on PTI

Frankly, I summarily dismiss the second-hand "Herald people can't stand DLB" bullshirt on sight. It's just not credible. It's deplorable, really. Hate his ethics. Hate his apologist style. Hate his on-air persona. Envy him for his money, his girls, his friends. But can we agree to withhold...

Yes. The guy who left went back to the paper from whence he came. I've personally never worked in SD, but I hear the work environment is less than healthy. Difficult people, expectations, etc. (Don't jump down my throat, please -- just passing along what I've been told.)

No accounting for taste. I like almost everything PJ has done, but "Unemployable" was unlistenable. There's a snippet on iTunes, in case anyone's interested. It's the B-side to "World Wide Suicide." A strange choice, considering it's also on the album.

One of their worst songs. And one of their most-played.

    Pearl Jam

HUGE Pearl Jam fan here. But I hope it gets better than "World Wide Suicide" on the new album. "Save You," the first single off the last record, was infinitely better. I heard "Unemployable," also on the new disc, on the radio today. Didn't do much for me, but maybe I'll warm to it.

    1. Go 2. Save You 3. Hail, Hail 4. Breakerfall 5. Brain of J. I, too, celebrate their entire catalog, though "Vs." and "Riot Act" are standouts for me.
