I guess if the old man had wanted Junior to have the company, he'd have stipulated that in his will.

If his will didn't account for the possibility that Junior would want to take over someday, tough noogies.

Maybe Junior should win at least one Cup championship before determining that he has what it takes to be the owner of a Cup team.

Oh, and btw, 24 rules. :D

I did not know that. I was not aware of that.

Doesn't change my opinion. In fact, Gordo should butt out of it. It's none of his business.

I realize Junior has an inflated sense of entitlement, and it's true that he and his Budweiser money are huge assets for DEI, but it's not his damn company and he has a lot of nerve expecting Teresa to just roll over and let him take it away.

She was there when DEI began, she helped build it up and now it belongs to her. If Junior doesn't like the way it is and can't work out a fair deal with her, he's free to move on at the end of his contract or sooner if she wants to cut him loose early.

EDIT: Before anyone else says it, I realize this fight isn't any of my business either. But I feel fairly safe in sharing my opinion here because, unlike that of the Great Gordo, it's far too insignificant to sway public sympathies one way or another. :)

Does he want to BUY a majority ownership or does he expect to be GIVEN a majority ownership? If that's been covered somewhere, please post a link.

Erin Crocker just popped up on TV, sans her boytoy. Still yummy.

I can't help it. Redheads are hot.

Wait, this isn't the Random Thoughts thread? Mea culpa.

If you owned a business selling toys at the height of the beanie baby craze, and the beanie baby maker said he was either taking his business elsewhere or taking over your company, would you do it?

I'd say no. You'd try to grow your other products and let the hot seller go elsewhere. It might hurt the company, but at least you still HAVE the company.

Of course, Dale Jr. has a lot more staying power than beanie babies. But I still wouldn't give the company away.

Because of that, and because Teresa is a smart businesswoman, I think Dale Jr. will go elsewhere and the black No. 3 will be on the track within two years -- with a Budweiser logo and red letters.

    Agree/disagree?

Although, I'm sure he'd consider more than RCR, even though that's a clear favorite. Could you imagine what Junior's fans would do if he drove for Hendrick? HMS could bump Mears somehow (why not?) and have Gordon, JJ, Kyle and Junior.

I can't really see Junior at Roush though...

    Sox' Henry, Roush near deal
By Michael Vega, Globe Staff | February 10, 2007

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. -- While an official announcement has not been made, word spread yesterday at Daytona International Speedway that Fenway Sports Group, led by Red Sox owner John Henry, had completed a deal to purchase a 50 percent stake in the Roush Racing NASCAR team.

An avid racing fan, Henry had engaged Roush in talks for several years about forming a partnership.

Jeff, if Junior ever drove for Hendrick, I'm sure Ol' Ironhead would spin in his grave.

Sure, he'd think his was kid as a smart businessman, but he'd also be saying, "WTF is going on at my company?"

Junior holds Bud's checkbook. If he goes to RCR, he'd be driving a black 3 car with Bud sponsorship stat.
