Without a HANS/Hutchens, imagine the result.

He also said something about "and I still don't think they found that debris yet, referring to the last caution.

I vaguely recall one where it looked like there was a piece of brake caliper on the track.

Not only that, but Reutimann could have been killed or seriously injured. So while throwing a debris caution definitely makes for a closer finish (or a better "show"), it could also kill someone.

And yet it's all about safety, right?

Jeff, nice to know that you're avoiding the Brian France Kool-Aid.

So that was you. Nice. I was in the media center when I heard that one. I think I was one of only a couple people who understood the meaning behind the question. I like the fact Johnson pretty much admitted that NASCAR pulls that shit. Kerry Tharp didn't look too happy about it, but screw 'em. NASCAR is never going to be taken seriously if they keep pulling bullshit like that...

I'll add my props for asking that question in a NASCAR media center. Well done, Jeff.

Again, I ask, what happens if Reutimann is not wearing a HANS? What happens if there's no soft wall there? (He did crash into a soft wall, IIRC, right?)

    What happens if he dies?

NASCAR decides to throw these flippin' bunch-up-the-pack cautions for show, but I wonder if someone got maimed badly and sued their asses off for one thing or another, whether there'd be a change in attitude in Daytona.

(Bubbler sits back and admires the chaos he's helped to create. Hi Jeff! :D)

I wish I was covering NASCAR right now, I'd ask every driver in the garage what they think about these phantom cautions that put them in jeopardy.

What, then would be the over/under on Bubbler getting his hard card revoked??? :D

The yellow flag has become the comparision to the TV time out. Difference is thought that it can greatly alter the results of event. Slowing down race clearly allows a few more commercials to be run.
