Simek (who got a straight red today for some reason) and Spector are probably the favorites for RB of the future ... or at least until Marvell Wynne figures out how to be a defender and not just an athlete playing in the back.

    aya,

Great to see MLS do itself justice in continental play. DC is pretty much toast, but Houston should be able to make the final. Away goals don't count, so they might have to score once.

Interesting that DC got over 20K for the game on a bad weather night ... more amazing still that the crowd was, at worst, 50/50, if not pro-DC.

On the U.S. Squad for a moment, I'm startled that Bobby Boswell, a Tampa native, isn't in the sqaud to play. Good player, and a chance to play in front of his hometown fans.

I think Señor Bob shied away from most of the D.C. and Houston players because of the CONCACAF Champions Cup.

Word is that a Spurs fan ran on the pitch today and attempted to assault Lampard.

The fan was quickly subdued and promptly stomped by Cole.

A video should be up on YouTube at some point.

Yes it was absolutely disgraceful. This guy ran on and threw a punch at a ducking Lampard, missed completely and was then bundled away after a little cuffing by Drigba. I think the Stewards managed a few cheap shots in the bundle. Certainly unlike anything seen for a long while in English football.

Instead of you tubing that you should see the two goals by Sheva and SWP which were both great, great finishes.

Great second half to that match.

And an ill tempered United-Boro match. Ronaldo won a deserved penalty, the Boro bench started screaming "cheat" at him and it was almost on between the Boro bench and one of the Man United staff. An absolutely horrible two footed "challenge" on Ronaldo in injury time won a red card.

I know that I'm an Man United fanboy, but right now, Ronaldo is in a class of his own. He isn't the lunchpail worker that Giggs or Scholes is, but I'll go so far as to say that he's the new Cantona.
