Well he hasn't said anything to me about it, yet and I've just implied that's the rumor. It would seem his actions would agree with that based on the amount of writing he's assigned himself. For his sake, I hope the reports of blown deadlines aren't true.

If PHINJ's info is even remotely accurate (blowing deadlines by several hours every night, entire press runs being returned, SE waltzing out of the office at 11 sharp even with dozens of pages still hanging fire), rest assured Bob will very shortly send in his own candidate to "assist" Aaron in the job (or order DiRienzo or somebody else to do it).

This guy will serve as ASE for a couple weeks until they decide to launch Aaron, be forcibly promoted into the SE chair, hang around a few weeks until something pisses Bob off again, then the noose will drop again, when the ASE guy will be launched (and the ASE job left unfilled). After all, when you've already run through 25 SEs in 10 years, what's a half-dozen more?

I'd take this job if my current occupation was sucking cock for rent money, but other than that, I'd pass.

I actually think that Aaron will last. Relatively speaking.

DeRienzo and Murray must have signed off on this proofing thing/missing deadline deal or else Rocky would have had an aneurysm and/or assaulted the entire staff by now. That means they're more concerned with preventing mistakes in the sports section than actually selling newspapers. That isn't actually that surprising when you consider who you're dealing with here.

If Aaron hasn't been told to stay until 2 a.m. by now, maybe he has some special deal or understanding with Bob. Maybe the two of them went on a golf outing and bonded. Maybe their plan is to fire the entire desk once they hire an ASE. But my guess is that having found a prototypical JRC henchman, they aren't going to abandon him so quickly.

  6. I have some information about a job opening at The Trentonian. I have been told that The Trentonian may have found a new executive editor although I do not have any specific information on who this person is, except that this person is not currently working at another JRC newspaper. I'll post an update if I get this confirmed or get more information on this person.

Aaron will be around as long as he doesn't fuck up or piss someone in higher authority off.

no knowledge of any of this and nothing at all worthwhile to add. just couldn't stand seeing this thread so low on the list when i checked SportsJournalists.com this morning. the world seems askew when this thread isn't at the top.

All I know is the Trentonian owes me $200 for the 2 stories I did, and I still haven't received the check. Hint hint. Nod Nod.
