The Northwest Herald is a great paper. And they have a great sports section. The cost of living in the Crystal Lake area is OUTRAGEOUS!

  3. More than elsewhere in the Chicago area?

Great paper (look at the APSEs).
Expensive area, but schools, shopping, etc. are great. Have an uncle who lives there and swears he'll never leave.

I'm sorry, but Crystal Lake is not a "great area." It's one of the best areas in McHenry County, but that's not saying much.

I will second that ... the best place to live in McHenry County gets the Tallest Midget Award

Don't know why the cost of living is so high. Between Jason running amok and parking their school buses on the railroad tracks, it seems like they'd keep the cost of education to a minimum.
