The Canes got my wife a championship for her birthday last year. I guess the pressure's on me now to top that.

Steal the Cup from Chris Pronger and beat him across the head with it should he try to cheap-shot you ... and he would probably try.

The thought of the Cup being in Pronger's possession for an entire day sickens me.

Julien isn't a bad choice for the Bruins. He led the Devils to 100 points before Lou's ego overwhelmed his intellect.

Why hasn't anyone found out the REAL reason for Julien's departure? Lou knows, sure, but are there any reporters able to pinpoint something about this firing?

They hired Steve Pleau – son of Larry Pleau – three weeks ago, aparently. Or so says one of my co-workers who follows the WHL much more closely than I. I don't recall any big announcement or anythign along those lines, however, and my co-worker only became aware of this last week.

Really? I wonder what the story is there ... will have to do some hunting. Don't know how much the Journal and Sun are covering ...

    1) I agree, the Flyers overpaid. But, someone else would’ve done the same on the open market. These two guys were highly coveted and if the Flyers didn’t overpay, another team would have. Edmonton really wanted to go after Hartnell.
I don’t see the Flyers buying these guys out. Timonen is always consistent, and Hartnell’s only 25 and has yet to break out of his shell.

    2) Interesting question. Until the ownership situation is revolved, Preds GM David Poile has to work within the current budget. He already acknowledged that he tried to sign both guys but the cash they were looking for didn’t fit in Nashville’s plans. Until they get their act together, they’ll be in trouble. Although, once/if the sale is approved, Balsillie will spend the cash to make the team a consistent winner.

    3) Julien is definitely a good coach, nothing else to say there. :)

    4) First I’ve heard of Quinn being in the running for the Sens job. I think they’ll end up giving it to the assistant coach.

    5) Playfair wanted to stay on because he wanted to be part of the team’s success. According to him, he wanted to stick around and be involved in a Cup winner in Calgary, and he feels the team is another piece or two away. Personally, I’d find it very hard to stick around in a place that didn’t watch me as their head coach.

Preds GM David Poile said he spoke to him and will keep speaking to him... but, he told the Nashville City Paper: "In all probability we are not going to be signing our top free agents"

I guess that means Kariya's out?

Hull's out at NBC. He will take a front office job with the Stars.

Hull can rip on just the Stars players now.
