Herald News (West Paterson, N.J.) seeks sports editor

    SPORTS EDITOR: We seek an experienced editor to manage our sports coverage. Candidates should have at least five years of daily newspaper experience, including at least two years as newsroom supervisor, a strong knowledge of local and pro sports, and be skilled at coaching journalists and improving their performance. Prior sports reporting experience is preferred. Expect to work a day/night shift and weekends as news warrants.     I could be wrong, but doesn't this job come open quite frequently?

    The outgoing SE has been there about three years. Not sure about before that.

    The ASE job was open more recently, though.

    Departing SE was there less than 2 years. He was No. 5 in this century.

    In the last 72 months, the Herald News sports editors have lasted 14.4 months.

    I would presume that it's because people are moving up in the Bergen Record food chain. And that's a good food chain in which to be.

    If I had supervisory experience, I'd be all over this.

    Did any of those previous ones move up?

    The outgoing SE is not going to the Record.

    Two however now work in New York
