Hilarious exchange between Stephen A. Smith and Mark Woody on Hardball today on whether Vick should be allowed to play in the NFL again. I hope someone is watching this besides me.

Well, his biggest point was that America is the land of the "second chance" and that keeping Vick from playing again in the NFL (after a suspension) goes against that principle. But the funniest bit came when Mr. Woody said he knew many NFL fans who said they would never watch the NFL again if Vick played. Stephen A cracked up, as did most anyone who knows football viewers, I suspect. I don't know Mr. Woody, but he's be low on my list for a television debate with an audacious talk show host.

Hardball is a show mostly about politics on MSNBC. Hosted by Chris Matthews. Woody is at the Richmond Times-Dispatch, apparently a sportswriter.

The quicker Vick gets inside the quicker he gets out. Don't know what his financial situation is, but I imagine he was living large and won't have the bread to cover those expenses and whomever else he has been supporting. He needs to get his money together and make sure nobody rips him off while he's away, hopefully get out in time for next year's CFL or Arena League and start his humiliation tour. Another option for him might be to go back to hoops and sign with a Euro league. The question isn't whether he'll be allowed back in the NFL, but if he wants to go back. He's still better than half the starters in the NFL and that's not going to change in two years.

I think Don Banks killed this story yesterday. Best take I've read in the aftermath on the plea, covering all of the fallout.

    1. If he wanted to "accept full responsiblity," he would plead guilty to ALL the federal charges, and any state charges which may ensue, and request the judge sentence him to the maximum sentences allowable to all charges.

    2. A "mistake" is when you're driving down the road and accidentally hit a dog which darts out in the street. A "mistake" is not when you pick and choose which animals to kill, make preliminary attempts to kill them, then come back with more vicious and brutal methods if the first attempts fail.

This mewling apologia bullshit needs to be shouted down from every editorial treetop in the nation.

    Dear Michael Vick:

    1. What you did wasn't a "mistake."

    2. You're not sorry you did it; you're sorry you got caught.

    3. We don't care if you're "sorry" or not. Rot in a cell, thug.

The "apology" is exactly what Banks hits on in the beginning of the story I linked to above.

    (And no I'm not Don)

I wonder if this some how validates the Wonderlic test. Vick's score, which was purportedly lower than his jersey number, is rapidly approaching his IQ.
