Doc, I had the township police come and take her away two years ago when she started getting belligerent at home.

Not the most pleasant memory, but I thought you might want that to chew on.

None of the above excuses what Mario's accused of doing. He's a good person who did a bad thing. He should be punished. And he should get help.

    Well said.

I worked with Mario for a few years in Newport News. I left prior to the decline, but I always had a good time when I was working on the desk with him. The Mario I knew then was a jovial, fun-loving guy. He'd take playful jabs with the best of them. I was ruthless on him about his love for Prince and the Redskins. Not a night would go by that I didn't take a shot at one, but usually both, so much so that the news desk would note at what time of day the obligatory "Prince reference" of the day would take place.

He taught me much about the design game, embracing responsibility for my actions when I screwed something up in the paper and not blaming someone else -- and most of all, putting out a good product. He was fun to work for, but as we all know -- there are sometimes rifts between bosses and subordinates. We had VERY few of them. I left the paper on my own accord, but it wasn't because of anyone at the DP. I still have good relationships with all of them there, and up until Mario's resignation, would still fire jabs about Prince and the Redskins to him. He'd come back with the same quick-witted responses.

I do hope he gets the help, because he taught me quite a bit in the few years we worked together. Those of you that worked with us understand how much fun we had on the desk. Some nights were rough and battle-laden, but most nights were just good times, we got our work done, we did it well and we had fun doing it. It was really a good time to be working there.

    Interesting headline.
    "Could get life."

Well, yeah. But how likely is that?
Story is no less sad than it was months ago.

If he pleaded guilty, probably not very likely.

the other concern would be whether he would face federal charges, since bank robbery is also a federal crime.

The fact that he did not have a record before and probably was troubled may work in his favor.

They are doing a really crappy job covering this story. And "heist?" who uses that in a news story?

Hopefully the fact that it was a toy gun will be factored into the sentence as well as the fact that he's saved the state money by avoiding the expense of a trial.

Although he had a toy gun on him, he apparently never brandished it or made a reference to it during the robbery.</a>

Yet another shitty web site page with text snaking around an ad, and not a photo to be seen.

Yeah.... the wave of the future.

False. Being an SportsJournalists.com poster actually gives you diplomatic immunity. I read about it on Wikipedia. That shits never wrong.
