    The St. Louis Post-Dispatch, a Lee Enterprises paper, seeks an
    experienced editor to edit and coordinate sports copy on deadline. We
    need someone with strong line-editing skills and a strong sense of
    urgency. This person will check graphics and page proofs for accuracy,
    and suggest story ideas. Writing bright, readable headlines and
    editing cutlines are integral parts of the job. We seek someone who
    can breathe life into wire roundups and who can recognize and help
    implement possibilities for strong visual presentation.

    Layout skills are not required, as those duties are handled by a
    design desk.

    In case you didn't hear, 60 people left the P-D last week on buyouts. This spot opened because one of the 60 was a part-time sports copy editor and another full-time sports copy editor switched to features to replace someone who took the buyout. I'm glad to see they're not wasting time replacing people they lost.

    The sports copy desk at the P-D is great. Good group of guys who get along really well. And the slot is one of my favorite people in the world.
