OK, I should have clarified. Has KU beaten any team that was ranked at the time? I give credit for that, even if many voters don't. Teams can fall for a lot of reason, especially injuries. If a team beats a ranked team that had been kicking ass before losing a star player or two, don't penalize the team that won.

come on slapster, when someone uses a "we beat colorado in colorado" as a reason for a top 5 ranking, you know the team that person's lying about sucks donkey dong.

The Colgate makes it more painful, or so I've been told.

Kansas definitely deserves to be ranked that high. Hawaii has no business near the top 10, though.

K-State was ranked No. 24 at the time. Nebraska and Texas A&M have been ranked at different points in the season.

Yes, but we all know NU and A&M have become train wrecks. Look, if KU beats MU, I'll give them all the credit in the world. But until that happens, I'm withholding a higher ranking. I think I had them fifth or sixth this week.

Like I said previously, fifth is about right for KU. Reward it for 9-0, but err on the side of caution.

Colorado's a tough place to play. I know when I played in Boulder I hit the wall during my second night of drinking instead of my third.

Tom Petty, just curious because you feel so strongly about this, where do you have KU ranked? Which teams do you rank above the Jayhawks?

Mizzou has to get around this obstacle, if they are going to win...

If Oregon beats USC then they have my vote for one of the top two teams in the country. The number 2 team is LSU, but if the defense does not wake up and remember they have a few tough games left, then Oklahoma to me will be the number two team in the country. Ohio State has a tough game with Michigan, and to this point have not been truly tested, where Michigan has battled adversity since starting 0-2, so I see them falling, and Michigan getting to a BCS game.

The toughest conference is the SEC, they battle every week, #2 is the pac 10, a different style of football played out there, but its damn good. The other conferences are either falling off, staying stagnant, or have been good for the last 2 or three years, and only consistency gets me excited. I got exhausted with the Utah's, Boise States, Rutgers, and even this year with South Florida!
