Ronnie Ramos on Monday becomes the senior editor/sports in our news and information department. This means that the various sports assignment editors report to him. This is close to the role he had before the reorganization; key difference is that we have divided the news gathering, takeout writing, section producing and Web page creating into distinct departments and that his new job is head of sports in the news gathering department (which includes all beat reporters plus columnists but not page designers, copy editors, etc.). Of course, that's just my understanding. His new job starts Monday, so my understanding of it might prove to be incomplete.

It sounds like the enterprise reporters might report to someone else..?

P.S. So how long did it take the geniuses in Atlanta to figure out they needed a sports editor?

What a snafu, fubar inside a clusterfuck.

Someone, please, someone, plug that once proud news organization back in.

Lots of good people at the AJC, but I can't read about that operation anymore without getting a massive headache. Their bureaucracy and titles almost make the government look simple.

With Ramos becoming senior over sports, D'allessio becomes senior over the features section.

So they decided they also needed a features editor? How retro!
