No, it goes by daily circ. even for Sunday. Less confusing that way and same staff does both anyway.

It's too bad others don't share your vision, instead choosing to inflict eventual harm on the organization as more and more papers slip into that bottom category.

But I've listened to the promises and the assurances of change the last three years and have seen nothing.

If circ keeps going the way it has, there aren't going to be enough papers in 250K-plus to get a top 20.

Simply, I was not conflicted when it came to judging. I was representing myself as a former president of APSE and that is why I completed the task, fairly and without confliction.

I understand conflicts could arise and that will be something the APSE executive committee will have to examine.

I did, however, resign my vote as a past president because there will be a conflict of interest as we move forward with credential language discussions.

I know my responses aren't going to satisfy all of you, but I am still a member of APSE and proud of the time I spent with that organization. While I am at MLB.com, I hope to remain involved as a non-voting past president.

  5. Thanks, again, Jim.

I don't think anyone was questioning you, personally. It was more the situation, at least for me.

Well, there goes the cappuccino machine at convention headquarters.

Jim, I really do not understand why you believe you ought to be the judge of that. Probably no one who becomes involved in a conflict of interest feels they can't be impartial. But the very fact that are involved in such a situation makes them completely unqualified to judge whether they can be fair.

Why all this sudden animosity towards APSE? Is it just our culture to complain about everything or what? This group is designed to HELP us, not hinder our job. Doesn't it, on a whole, do that?

Sadly, it's the culture, and the culture of this board.

Either that, or we're really hawking for a Romenesko mention.

Well, now I'm really confused, because one of my colleagues is on the list for an award in the over 250K category and we're about 20K under 250K daily.

But if what you say is true, then my paper is one of the Fail Four that got no mention at all in the section categories -- daily, sunday, special.
