They still make all-state selections, but don't dedicate a full tab to it anymore.

Sounds like it would be a great job. I've always enjoyed my visits to Providence. Easy to get around and excellent restaurants.

The Journal is like a comfortable shoe when you pick it up. Good sports coverage with the same writers for ever. Also you have to love Rhode Island politics. Always a scandal or two for the front page.

I miss reading Franny Crane's column though.

Didn't Martone do a lot of writing?

And I'll agree with those who said this would be a great job.

No the only thing Martone ever did was a weak weekly roundup of quotes, rumors and quips from random blogs.

K-Mac is one of the best around as far as college hoops goes (and no, I ain't K-Mac).

According to Art, what is being posted is a new position...meanwhile, Art will be concentrating more on convergence...turning sports into a web-first operation....stay tuned....

So is this the head assigning editor? Aren't there editors already coordinating high school, college and pro coverage?

Who gave out their salary history to the paper? It's none of their f'n business what an applicant makes currently.

For that salary, I'll give them one of my kidneys.
