ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES include the following (Other duties may be assigned to meet business needs):
• Creates, edits and posts all rockets.com site content. Includes but is not limited to the following:
- Daily reporting including practice, game coverage, player interviews and breaking news
- Features writing
- Weekly polls
- Guest columnists and blogs
- Photo layouts
- Podcasts

• Updates content for all additional Rockets sponsored web pages (fan voice, facebook, myspace, etc.)
• Liaison with foreign language site translators (Spanish, Chinese) to update subsites


QUALIFICATIONS:
• Journalism/Communications degree preferred
• Journalism background and experience
• Web site content management experience a plus
• Must know html
• Experience with PhotoShop a plus
• Strong organizational and project management skills
• Good communication skills
• High degree of professionalism to interact across organizational levels and departments
• Must be willing to travel

Doesn't look terrible for people with a slight web background.

No mention of video or audio editing, podcasting, or some of that other crap the MLB wants for all their web positions.

 

Quite an interesting position. How well do you think one needs to know HTML? I have a decent background, but I'm certainly not proficient.

 

Neither am I. I think like anything, if you are good at all the other stuff, and decent at html they will give you a shot. They can teach a writer how to do some harder commands in a few hours, they can't teach an IT guy to write in a few hours.
