I know when I said that I hoped he found peace, I meant in regards to losing his grandfather. From his thread, and his PM, he was clearly affected.

I didn't mean to imply anything otherwise, as I'd never met him.

Oh man, just saw this and am shocked.

As chippy as this place can be at times, reading the moving tributes and folks' reactions is uplifting. Wish it didn't take something like this to do it.

RIP, Tripp. Didn't know you, but wish I'd had the honor.

This is usually when I'd say someone died of a broken heart.

Perhaps we would be better off leaving it at that?

My condolences to those of you who knew him. I wish I did. Amazing tributes.

forever_town's point is well taken. A good man is lost to us. The cause is irrelevant.

A lot of people who usually are some of the most joyfully vulgar, loudmouthed, and smart-assed I have ever had the privilege of knowing . . . . they - we - remain absolutely broken by this news.

    Just . . . frackin' BROKEN.

(and somewhere, Tripp/James is screaming at his TV after Weaver was pulled for a pinch hitter).

From all I've seen, we're all the lesser for it, Piotr.

It wasn't suicide, James has been battling a lot of health issues recently. He was starting to have a lot of problems breathing of late, needing lots of hits from his inhaler amongst all the other dozens of other issues he hid from almost everybody.
He had always thought he would never make it to 40, in fact he always told me that his dream was to have a heart attack while having a threesome with a pair of 20-something strippers the day before his 40th birthday...
If anyone could have pulled that off it would have been him, that man had a way with the ladies that was unbelievable...
He was like the Yoda of running game...

Just walked in after a brief vacation, and saw this.

I didn't know this poster at all, but just wanted to say that the tributes to Tripp McNeeley really are something special.

One of the current PT staffers is putting together a book of James stories for all to have at the memorial (still TBA). If there's anyone on SportsJournalists.com who would like to add something, please PM me and I will pass your stuff along. I believe we'll also be printing out this thread and James' grandfather thread.

Thanks again to everyone who has taken the time to post something about a dear friend to all of us.

    Wow.

I have been busy with guests to the house this weekend, and I see this thread.

    A belated RIP.
