This is sad to hear. Enjoy reading both of these fellas.

Don't expect different and fresh at The Advocate. It's not allowed.

  3. Re: Two more to Web

If ThePrez is who I think he is, fair enough assessment. He's been there and done that.

But the climate is changing in BR and the departure of these two guys, while a blow, might force things to change for the better.

As ThePrez knows, though, only one departure will truly change things at The Advocate and that's not going to happen for a few more years and then it may require kicking and screaming.

Here's a third print-to-Web move for the pipeline:

Jim Young of the Greensboro News & Record is leaving us to become editor of ACCSports.com, the coming-soon-to-the-intertubes-near-you companion to the ACC Sports Journal.

Jim will do great there. We'll miss the hell out of him.

Congrats to Jim, truly one of the good guys in the biz.

    Another one from The Pipeline:

Al Tays, high reputation guy as editor and writer, is leaving the Palm Beach Post to become deputy managing editor at foxsports.com.

Great guy, too. Heard he was doing web stuff the past few months at the Post, and I think they're right in the middle of all their buyouts and layoffs. Huge, huge loss for the Post. That place is going to be a mess for a while with all the people leaving.

    Agreed. Nice pickup for Fox.

I don't know Tays, but I heard he's an effin' stud.

Good luck to Al, a great guy who taught me a lot about conceptual editing and also how to get more enjoyment out of the work. I've had lots of teachers in the biz, but a conversation we had nearly 20 years ago changed my approach to the job. And somewhere upstairs I still have a cassette he sent me of a band called "The Chicken Chokers."

If the new guy is deputy managing editor of Foxsports.com, who is the m.e.?
