Jim Cantore just said 40% of the people on Galveston Island are still there. Not sure if that's true or not, but wow.

KHOU has said the same thing a few times.

You know they're screwed when Danger Jim is in town.

Where has Stephanie Abrams and her wet t-shirt been positioned?

LiesIntx, I know exactly how you feel. That was myself and a few other board members a few weeks ago.

And I'm sure I can speak for them when I say good luck, we're thinking of you and your family and wish/hope for the best. And, as always, if there's anything you need, you certainly know you can contact most anyone on this board.

Fuerte, how are things on the SW LA coast? Looks bad on the radar.

Sorry, I've got a new favorite on the Chron chat:

I am in Dallas, should I leave?

Eric Berger: Yes. Your county commissioners think a black hole is a racist term. I'm not sure I'd want to be governed by them.

My ex-girlfriend, who is still a very, very good friend of mine, lives in Houston. She's pretty worried, too. This sucks.

It has been very windy here all day and the last bit of rain we had today happened at about 7 a.m. this morning. But apparently the coast down in south Plaquemines and south Lafourches parishes have lots of water in them.

I know the T-P reported that Venetian Isles already was flooding yesterday. I think there's a good bit of water that has moved in on the Northshore. I haven't been to the lake front, though I'm sure the wind is whipping around out there and making the water very choppy.

EDIT: Here are some pictures from West End, an area near Lake Ponchartrain on the west side (obviously) of New Orleans.

I hope as long as I live here, this is the worst we get from now on.

As for the SW La coast, I'm guessing it's getting hammered. I'm on the SE coast, thankfully.
