I always imagined Ron would be reading a fax during the final out.

Pat: Here comes the 3-2 pitch from Zambrano...

Ron: I got a fax here from Maude in Burr Ridge and she wants to know if I have anything planned for the off-season...

Santo the whole last two innings: "This is unreal."

That, and somehwere in there, he said "I don't think we've had a no-hitter since I was playing for the Cubs."

This really is hell day. Brewers complete their epic Wild Card choke and the Cubs get a no-hitter in my home ballpark? I mean, I was rooting for the Cubs out of self-interest, but I was hoping they'd have to use seven pitchers to do it.

So I guess Zambrano's arm is OK?

    Looks that way. :D

Seeing Z throw a no-hitter was about the only thing that could have cheered me up from watching my favorite professional football team give perhaps the worst team performance ever, thanks in large part to playing two of the worst NFL quarterbacks ever, in what almost certainly has to be the worst-played professional sporting event in history. (Raiders 23, Chiefs 8, in case you were wondering.)

I'm just glad he finished it off when he did. Throwing many more pitches wouldn't have been good for the big picture.

Be serious, please. 110 pitches shoud not be a problem.

When your ace has had his start skipped twice in the past six weeks because of a "dead arm" or tendinitis in the throwing shoulder, you don't want to push him too much farther.

    Lilly has a no-hitter through 4.
