For the record, I believe I am the first to bring this utterance to this particular table.

    Fald'oh!

    You're welcome, in advance.

And yes, it is singles matches on Sunday, with all 12 guys playing for each team.

Sunday is singles, yes. Another round of alternate shot and better ball Saturday, also know as foursomes and fourballs.

If Oliver Wilson and Stenson don't play well tomorrow, this thing could snowball because then the Euros are going to start doubting their captain (if they aren't already), the European press will start poking them with a stick, and the whole thing has the potential to unravel.

It's not like they like Faldo in the first place. They're licking their lips right now, hoping this implodes.

I apologize in advance for stealing it as my own Monday when I write a column about Faldo being the worst European Ryder Cup captain ever! (Not to mention a huge douche bag as well.)

Yes, because the whole world is waiting for a column by some guy sitting in front of his TV writing about the most overhyped and unimportant sports "event" this side of the NFL Draft.

Or, you know, he could be in an area where golf is a big deal.

And if he's not covering the event, he should not be writing a column about it.

Depends on the column, I would say. Dan Wetzel wrote two columns this week on Yahoo. One was on why the Mountain West should be in the BCS, the other on why Mike Shanahan's decision to go for two against San Diego was the right one.

Wasn't at any Mountain West games this week, or as far as I can tell Denver-San Diego. So he shouldn't have written those columns?

There's nothing more overrated in sports than the decisions and influence of the Ryder Cup captains. I suppose it was Faldo's fault Sergio hit about 15 shots fat yesterday. Why didn't he use the zone defense against Anthony Kim? The captain is a morale specialist, period. For reasons one cannot divine, some guys are good at that, like Crenshaw and of all people, Bernhard Langer, and some aren't.
Mark James hid his rookies until Sunday in '99, and it didn't work so well. Got to get every body in the lineup sometime.
It's freakin' golf!!! Mickelson snakes a putt from a zillion feet. Harrington misses his. Some great players are on this weekend, some left their games in the trunk of their courtesy car. Happens every week. There's no "leader" ever born who can alter that equation.

Mickelson and Kim, who looked like ass kickers early, are now choking away a 4-up lead.

And the world's most bitter man has spoken. Do you try to be the biggest asshole in America or does it come naturally? And for the record, golf is huge around here. Now go back to bossing around your prep writers.
