Another fallacy. There's about 12 minutes of action in a three-hour football game.

Football is not filled with constant action. It's filled with constant standing around, running up the middle, and waiting for something to happen. It's kind of like a slot machine, which is probably why everyone's addicted to it.

Fallacy or not, it's what people believe. Let's face it, people don't like baseball the way they used to.

Apparently you and others do care. Otherwise, there wouldn't have been a response.
I hope I'm wrong but why are you upset over this?

I disagree. In the eyes of many, baseball isn't fun. I love the game but in many areas, the game isn't as popular as it once was.

Which explains completely why a fast-action, non-stop contact sport like hockey has such a big following in the states.

There have been threads on this topic. Hockey still hasn't caught on in many areas of the United States. It probably never will.

    Where are these areas?

The teams in New York drew 8 million this year, nearly 2 1/2-times what the three New York teams drew in what is considered the "Golden Age" of baseball in the 1950s. The Doidgers drew 4 million, the Phillies came close.

Minor-league baseball attendance is very solid. The College World Series draws more than 300,000 fans in two weeks, and college baseball's regular season and sub-CWS NCAA playoffs has never been more popular. Summer wood bat baseball league have exploded in popularity and can be found in nearly every corner of the country.

More people are watching more baseball than at any time in the history of this country. But it's a game best experienced in person. Not all of them choose to watch a World Series game that doesn't start until 8:30 p.m., and many have too much else going on in their lives with family, etc., to devote three hours to watching the World Series.

Would the NFL's ratings be as high as they are if it started its playoffs at 8:30 p.m. on a weeknight, and then had a three-hour rain delay? Of course not.

World Series ratings are a snapshot - and a relatively minor one, truth be told - of baseball's overall popularity. Is it as popular anymore as the NFL? No.

Don't we have about twice as many people in this country as we did in the 1950's?

Sure we do. And more of them are watching baseball than at any time in the country's history.

Wow. Do I have to post those World Series ratings again?

Dear Hundreds of Thousands (if not A Million) Phillies Fans Who Lined the Streets for Friday's World Series Parade:

Because this World Series was the lowest-rated in history, the Phillies must give the trophy back. Sorry. "Nobody" in the country cared, so this one doesn't count.

    Please.

    Oh, dear God.
Those people were so starved for a championship, they'd have been out there for a Major Indoor Lacrosse League title.
