Beyond that, you might want to ask and satisfactorily answer a question to yourself: Why would the governor be leaking names (not just one, but various) to me for this Senate appointment -- might he have something to gain from it?

I imagine the columnist asked this question, as we all do. Anyone who leaks information to us has something to gain. They don't do it out of the goodness of their heart. But I think she probably knew the answer to that question and decided to write what was leaked anyway for the benefit of a good story.

Perhaps. I think if there is a bus that the media can toss Zell under, they're gonna do it, though.
