Great work in the Columbus Dispatch on FERPA

    I'm sure you are right, but the schools that redact athletes names on all documents except stuff like that rub me the wrong way. And since the law isn't exclusive to athletes, I know that my colleges never asked me before releasing that I graduated, was academic All-America in junior college, made dean's list, etc.

    It's like the football programs that I'm sure have players sign something saying their medical information can be released, then hide behind HIPAA if they don't want next week's opponent to know how bad the quarterback's ankle is.

    I can definitely picture the A.D. at the school I cover just throwing it away because it's not positive.
