Oddly muted reaction to this story:

    http://www.tidesports.com/article/20090610/NEWS/906109987/1011?Title=Vacated-wins-part-of-NCAA-penalties--sources-say

Published at lunchtime Wednesday, AP never picked it up – and thus, neither has the WWL.

Called the AP to inquire tonight ... said the state bureau never pointed them to it. Sourced, yes, but Cecil Hurt's stuff is usually solid gold.

Big(ger) story on Thursday, I suppose. Hell of a big deal hereabouts.

The Bham News had that this morning too...
All the cumguzzling callers on talk radio are saying that Mal Moore shouldn't lose his job for this... well, fuck. Under whose watch are all these problems appearing? Malfeasance Moore....

So OU is in danger of passing them now? The SEC weeps.

Perilously close to that magical "loss of institutional control."

  6. As in, if he backed up a bit he'd trip over it?

Why does the NCAA always say wins are "vacated" instead of "forfeited"?

They use "vacate" because they don't credit the opposing team with a win, which would be the case in a forfeit.

I understand that, but why should it be that way if they cheated? If you lose to a team that cheated, you probably should be credited with a victory.

    Cheaters!

I prefer the term evicted. Carries a nastier connotation. Oh, and nobody in the SEC is weeping for Alabama.

I'll never be able to listen to Alabama talk radio without thinking about that passage again ... you the man, Slap.

Yes, getting extra copies of "The Catcher in the Rye" for American lit class constitutes a competitive advantage ...
