I notice in the mirror what great things they can do! I just need the confidence. Like I said, I'm trying to get comfortable being a girl in social situations. I was a college athlete and always hung with athletes in sweats or whatever. Now I want to be the girl getting the attention when I'm out with cute clothes and shoes!

fs, as everyone's been saying, practice at home first. Hips just a little forward, and pretend they're rolling even though your feet are walking. Once you've got it, don't forget to practice on stairs.

I just had an image of a uber-proud me walking proudly in my 4" heels and then arriving at a staircase, looking at it dumbfoundedly and then starting to cry! :)

Hips forward, shoulders back, ass up, and don't buy cheap heels, they'll make you walk funny.

Changing subjects for a moment, someone tell me what's the catch here:

SilverJewelryClub.com, it's all free stuff, the designers just want to get recognized so you'll buy more of their stuff. They put on a few pieces at a time, for 15 minutes or something like that. Anyone know this site? It looks a little cheap, but maybe worth looking at, for free.

Also, Ideeli (thanks for the addiction, ijag!) has some great Satya jewelry today.

Mothers are no longer teaching their daughters how to walk in heels. It's sad and far too evident, at least on the streets of Canadopolis.

My mother had me in 2.5-inch wedges when I was 12.

AMac, I've figured out the female equivalent of "Get off my lawn!", for me at least. It's being at a wedding, watching the bridesmaids clomp in and thinking, "Your mother never once walked you walk across a room?"

Though my mother is not five feet tall, she almost never wears heels. I'm not sure she'd be qualified to teach me how to walk in the darn things... which is fine, since I don't wear them. In this case, I definitely know my limits.

Mine never wore heels, either. She is 5'2. My dad is 5'9. I'm 4'9.5. Life isn't fair! But yeah, I was never "taught" how to walk in heels. The balance/weight shift thing isn't an issue. I just don't think I'm smooth enough with higher heels. But I've decided I really, really like how my calves look in them! If the guys don't like it, too bad!

My mom didn't wear heels either, so I wasn't taught. I also don't remember practicing. I think I was able to just pick it up.

Went into my first Kate Spade (outlet) store today. Almost passed out from the sheer beauty. Managed to keep my purchase (a clutch for my BFF's birthday) to less than $100, but I just built my Christmas list.

After a lack of much decent shopping the past few months, spent six hours at the outlets today with two of my good friends and one's mother-in-law-to-be (a fun lady). Bought a dress and shoes for an October beach wedding, kitchen gadgets, said Kate Spade gift and a sweet watch at Fossil. Much needed retail therapy. :)

Oh, and I'm not a dresses or heels girl (will wear heels with jeans, will wear dresses when forced) but the girls I shopped with are trying to convert me. This should be entertaining. For everyone involved.

I can wear 2-3 inch wedges but struggle with heels (tendency to misstep and roll my ankles) and anything pointy toed.

I figure the heels think will never get much better, but any advice on shoving my feet into pointy-toed shoes without it being enormously painful? I love the look but damn does it hurt.

One of the coaches I cover wears 3-4 inch pumps during her games. I'm amazed she hasn't broken her ankle yet.
