Ballot in. Probably looks a lot like yours.

First out: Colorado State (3-0), which goes for credibility at Provo on Saturday.

KY Sports writer: Since you were curious ...

Oklahoma started No. 2 in my preseason poll. I dropped the Sooners to No. 10 after their loss, and they've moved up a few places due to teams losing ahead of them.

If Bradford's back at full strength, I still think the Sooners can take down the Longhorns (call me crazy).

I moved BYU to No. 9 (one spot ahead of Oklahoma) after the week 1 upset, but moved them down to No. 14 this week. I know, that's below a team they beat, but I see BYU's home loss (by 26 points) as being worse than the Sooners losing a squeaker after their QB gets knocked out of the game.

Let's face it ... by the end of October, just about every major program will have at least one loss, and we'll all be trying to compare apples to oranges again.

A half-pint of Jack in the Land of Confusion

    By SLAPPY 4428
Has Got the Poll World in His Hands

    See Jack?

    Jack’s really confused.

See he just turned seven months [IMG]the other day and has taken an interest in my work. Whenever I sit down in my office chair, he’ll come up and jump on my arm, pull the keyboard over and start typing.

Most times, it looks like this “fkbdlkdshvn.” Most times, it improves the quality of my work.

He gets confused about other things. Like when Ms. Slappy decides to play dress-up. Real men don’t wear scarves and while his owner is a Michigan man, the only time he’s seen Rich Rodriguez’s photo, he used it for target practice while potty training (true story).

In fact, the last time she dressed Jack up, it was all Dottie, the other dog, could do to hide and not to laugh – and she failed miserably (see background of photo).

Anyway, I’m getting off track – much like BYU did against Florida State on Friday night.

Jack’s confused. He’s an inquisitive type and wants to know things. And being a beagle and hound, when he talks, you know exactly what he’s trying to say. Sometimes I can explain it to him, other times I can’t.

For example, he wanted to know – after reading our little Ray of Sunshine in the paper today – how BYU’s loss – and for that matter, Utah’s – means the end of non-BCS schools in the national picture? It doesn’t, I explained to him as he went and chewed on a tennis ball. It means the foof is an SEC apologist in general and is nuts specifically. He won’t write off his Big Teams with a loss to a BCS school, he shouldn’t with the smaller schools – especially when they have beaten a top 5 BCS school.

He wanted to know why the other redheaded guy in the paper always writes about the ACC schools in an SEC town and I couldn’t answer him It’s a mystery to me too.

As he started biting my right hand, he wanted to know what USC’s loss means to the national picture. “Nothing,” I told him, as I started biting his right ear to get him to stop biting my hand. “The only thing it does is get USC’s annual loss out of the way early. And it means Washington is doomed to lose next week.”

This just pissed him off – the answer and the biting, though I’m not sure which drew more ire. See, Momma might have dressed him in Maize and Blue, but the dog is pure Walker County – raised on red, rabid and somewhat backward.

“See Jack, the SEC fans will crow about three teams in the top five and four in the top seven. Sure, there’s one quality win against Virginia Tech and a good win at Washington. But North Texas, Charleston Southern, Florida International, Southeastern Louisiana and Louisiana-Lafayette aren’t quality wins. SEC teams are like termites: once they’re in, they’re a beeyatch to get rid of.”

He wanted to know what happened to the Big 12 and I told him to get in line; he howled at Charlie Weis and drooled while watching a replay of the Georgia-Arkansas game -- tho it was only when the Dawgs were on defense. I don't think it was a coincidence.

As he scampered away down the hall, he wanted to know how Notre Dame could win a game, improve to 2-1 and not sniff a vote in the poll. He got quiet for a while. I went to check on him and he was lying on the bathroom floor, happily chewing on wad of toilet paper.

“I think you just answered your own question, buddy.”

Nebraska loses and moves into the poll for the first time? That doesn't happen every day.

Also, the difference between Miami (13th) and Florida State (22nd) seems way too large, given how the Seminoles were a dropped pass away from beating the Hurricanes. That's a big divide for one pass.

Bonus points for trying to out-Beamer Beamer?

Either way, not a bad performance by a team that was all at sea not that long ago.

I was impressed with the Cornshuckers despite the loss because it was they were this close to being a win over a top 25 team on the road. (fixed epic grammatical disaster)

It's roughly the size of Jacksonville State University.

I'm willing to overlook that based on Florida State's (impressive) win at BYU.
