It seems Deadspin is about to go guns blazing at ESPN re: sex rumors

    Very solid points, LTL.

They're the bosses of the anchors and "talent"

I agree it's not as clear cut with the execs, but I think it's enough of a gray area that Deadspin is OK. I'd also guess, as someone else mentioned, that Deadspin has consulted with legal counsel before posting this stuff.

I don't understand the comparison. Neither of these portrayed themselves as sports outlets as Deadspin does.

Anybody read the comments on the VP story?

I've heard the stories from so many different people it's not even funny about the way the interns and those who are pretty low on the totem pole are treated there.

I think it was in Freeman's book where someone referred to it as "Sexual Harassment Central" and if you're a mediocre talent like Jason Jackson, they run you off. If you're Mike Tirico, it was barely a speedbump on his way to the top.

So because the overall company allows for an improper environment, individual employees deserve to have stories written about them without even proper sourcing? Bullshit.

If the stories are true, then yes they do.

It's 5:30 on the East Coast, doesn't Deadspin usually scale way back in the evening unless there's major breaking news?

This has been, so far, a single firecracker when it was teased as an atom bomb.

I got the impression they weren't going to release everything in one day.

    People, people, people!

    You're slipping.

I know, I know, this isn't about TBL, but still ...

    This ...

I don't see how the veep at ESPN could be considered a public figure.
That is a huge stretch and, yeah, I agree Gawker ran it by legal counsel, but that still seems awfully flimsy.
Lordy, if I was that lady, or connected to her in anyway, I'd already have a lawyer on retainer for this. Calling her a horndog seems, well, excessive.
