Looks like an awfully scenic area, though I wonder just how far $20K will go in that neck of the woods. Anyone know if this is still an Ogden paper?

 

I would think $20K would be a bit of a stretch, but manageable if you were a single person in a 1-BR apartment. Someone making 25K in that area would probably be OK.

No way anyone can support a family on that.

 

If you came in with no debt payments and the area had a very low cost-of-living, it could probably be done, but it wouldn't be fun.

 

You know, a simply solution that newspapers and companies around the world WILL one day realize that paying the pee-ons a little bit more while cutting the salaries of the higher-ups who do very little WILL not only increase production and quality of your business, but also increase the nation's economy. God forbid the CEO drives a Lexus instead of a Jaguar though. Good Christ that would be bad.

 

Hmmm. I wonder who left. This is my hometown. I also worked at the leader. the publisher, pat beck is extremely supportive of her news staff. The managing editor, Tim Fonda, really knows his stuff. And the sports editor, paul wager, is a great SE to work for. PM me for anything else.

It wouldn't really work, either. People would get used to the new standard, prices and expectations would go up so they wouldn't feel any richer, and everything would move on.
