We'll agree to disagree I suppose, Tony. Whether they had the shirts before now, or whatever other days they wear them, who knows. But take off your partisan blinders for a moment, and I think even you would have to question the timing.

I find being a dick and looking to start trouble a rather strange way to show one's patriotism. But that's just me.

And come on, Tony, enough with the "Hate America" crap. It's a strawman, and it's bullshit. You don't have to give up your pride for where you came from to be an American.

This doesn't matter. Once the New World Order takes over, we'll all salute one flag.

Pride in where you came from is one thing. But these kids walked out of class a day later because the kids who wore the flag shirts weren't suspended. That tells me they find the U.S. flag offensive. And if they do, then they can get the f*** out.

So I guess we shall agree to disagree.

Sportsguy, I don't think you have to give up your cultural pride, but shouldn't there be some sort of assimilation? I would expect, that they want to be here, so why would they find the flag of this country offensive on any day? But as 93D points out, there is no accounting for high school boy intelligence.

Also, there seems to be no accounting for stupid. We have a Live Oak high in our area. They have had extra security for the last couple of days because of a stream of threats called in to the school.

    Learn to read please.

Frankly, I don't know where you come up with that conclusion, Tony, except for the idea that maybe it just fits in nicely with your worldview. And that's fine. We'll agree to disagree, again.

If you read the story linked to, there are quotes from at least one of the Mexican-American students, intimating that the students involved knew damn well what they were doing. None of us know the racial dynamics of that school, so we're all speculating.

And I come at this from the perspective of having a half-Mexican child, who's been harassed in school for speaking Spanish with his friends. So my first instinct is to side with the Mexican-American kids, knowing firsthand the kind of bullshit that some of these "patriotic Americans" are prone to.

That's just dumb, Dirk. And this just shows how one little incident can mushroom.

And as I said in response to Tony, I don't think it's the displaying of the flag they find offensive. I think it's the context and the intent behind it.

They only took over WCW for a couple of years, and look what happened to that company. The rest of the world will live quite nicely.

Hey, don't blame me; I supported One Warrior Nation.

I can only get to your point if I accept the false believe that wearing a t-shirt with the flag on it can be in any way considered wrong. It can't -- at least in America.

Won't disagree that some - a lot, really - high school boys are out to be dicks to other teens.

"Wearing the shirt is fine." - Apparently not, or why all the hubbub in the first place? Wearing border patrol shirts on Cinco de Mayo at another school didn't fly, either.

As far as fighting the punishment - and possibly losing prom or graduation - that's not exactly true or else the school district wouldn't be backing away from the VP.

As far as a physical fight breaking out over the shirts, it takes two to fight. Gotta put some onus on the other side (even if you could see why they were offended).

Actually, there wouldn't have been any trouble had Mr. Douchebag Principal not grossly over-reacted. That fuck should lose his job.
