You're not kidding. They had to cut me out.

In a more figurative sense, though, I think a young person going away to college, moving away as a young adult, can be a very important and transformative experience.

On the other hand, you don't always get back. I have always wanted to move back to the East Coast, but life has just kept intervening.

 

That's fine and dandy, as long as you're not in a newspaper job.

One disadvantage to leaving Oklahoma is that, in comparison to your new surroundings, you will instantly seem fatter and dumber.

Getting truly out on your own, without a stafety net of friends and family in close proximity, can be transformative.

 

Just to clarify, the family isn't in Oklahoma, but they're a hell of a lot closer to there than the East Coast. It's the difference between 4 hours in the car and $500+ on a plane ticket.

 

Drip needs to weigh in. Not sure which is the best city for an ass-kicking. Hmm.
