Illinois is not that good and the game is at home, so that could be No. 2.

Wisconsin, if healthy, should roll them. And OSU will nuke them off the face of the earth.

So that'll put them at 7-5 -- right in the gray area.

The new coach (presuming there is one) will inherit a pretty decent roster, especially on offense.

There's enough talent on the roster that assuming a coach comes in who has at least a remote clue on defense (or a DC who does), he can shuffle a few athletes around, adopt a credible scheme instead of the cotton-candy 3-3-5, and assemble at least a barely-adequate D, as opposed to the worst-in-school-history abominations Rodriguez has been running out there.

So it isn't a complete disaster area for a prospective new coach.

Illinois has become a pretty decent football team. Not Top 25 good, but "playing to make a bowl game" (which would mean a lot to that crew) good. They run the ball very well, showing nice improvement in their front 7 defensively. Certainly not a given, for the Wolverines.....

Let's not forget that he started recruiting for Michigan while he was still working for West Virginia. That is how the story first broke that he was leaving -- Terrelle Pryor told a reporter who was doing a recruiting story about it.

Everything about the way Rodriguez left West Virginia was a disgraceful. He's a dirtbag. Deal with it, mustang.

Yep, him and gibby were burning the phone lines up, they knew they were in grey area and they wanted to get a head start, they had there news conference at WVU after they had made the calls recruiting the players to Michigan. They were making the calls on WVU's dime from the WVU football offices. Pretty sad!

It was also completely sensationalized. Interviewing a disgruntled transfer student who wasn't even good enough to play, but they kept him around anyway. Go look up Toney Clemons stats at Colorado and tell me he would even touch the field with Michigan's dynamic receiving core.

Because it was a slap in the face to the Freep. Who do you think Larry Lage got that info from? I'm betting it was Michigan AD Dave Brandon. So basically the AP scooped the Free Press on its own sensationalized story about how Rich Rod is a terrible person who doesn't like his players and makes them work too hard.

Also, yes you are completely right, Rodriguez does not want to have a good defense. I'm sure that is his idea. I bet the poor numbers have nothing to do with 3 defensive starters on the two deep being injured along with a pair of backups - many of these are season long injuries compounded onto a list of people who could not perform at a high enough level. So now, instead of red shirting all of his freshman CBS - Courtney Avery, Terrance Talbott, Cullen Christian, he has them starting along with a converted wide receiver, James Rogers! But yeah, Rodriguez would much rather not have a good D. That's the reason. Not inexperience, attrition, injuries and a bad d coordinator. It's Rodriguez being a dumb hick. Let's hate him because he talks with an accent and he isn't Jim Harbaugh.

I'm a little confused why a Michigan fanboi would be so happy RichRod was cleared by the NCAA, while the school isn't in the clear yet. Seems like it would be the opposite.
I like Michigan, but they need to cut their losses and get someone new. It's one thing to have off-field drama if the team is kicking butt on the field (just ask Dennis Erickson), but that's not happening.
