    Salary: $20,000 to $25,000

The Argus-Press of Owosso, Michigan (9,000 daily) has an opening for a full-time sports writer. This position would be perfect for a recent college graduate, although more experienced writers are welcome to apply. The Argus-Press covers 10 high schools and a variety of other sports in the Shiawassee County area. As part of a three-person sports staff, the successful candidate will write, take some photos and paginate pages on occasion. Resumes and clips should be e-mailed to managing editor Dan Basso at drbasso@argus-press.com.

How many times is this job posting going to become available? This shop sounds like a revolving door.

Not a great shop from what I have been told. Overbearing and uncaring management is just the start of it. I never worked there, but do know someone who has and it was not a pleasant experience for them.

Really small town and I echo what the two above me have said.

I've driven through Owosso more times than I can count. I certainly wouldn't move there for barely minimum wage...

Kind of interesting that it's only a 9K circ., but they still have three sports staffers.

Not much in Owosso and you're closer to Flint than you are Detroit.

How quickly are they looking to fill the position?

I know the one who just left... considering he just got there I'd say that's a huge red flag. He moved on to the Livingston County paper. Don't know much else about the place.

Just wondering, huge red flag for the guy who just left or for the publication...

I understand what you're saying about the red flag because of the quick move.

But Livingston County is a bigger paper with at least some opportunities to cover college sports (Michigan, MSU) at times.

Plus, you're closer to Ann Arbor (which is better than Owosso being closer to Flint).

That being said, I don't really know much about the Owosso paper.

Might be a red flag for the publication. Then again, he used to be on our night crew and he IS a go-getter in his defense, so Livingston County would be a good step up for him.

How long should someone be at a entry level job for it to not be a red flag?
