I don't post much, but I've lurked on here for years. I never met Ron; I don't think I ever directly interacted with spnited. But I still feel like I lost somebody I knew.

    RIP Ron.

And an age-old question is finally answered.

    This is hitting hard.

Haven't posted in a long time but had no choice but to echo sentiments such as these. I had the pleasure of working with Ron for several years and whenever I was feeling frustrated, he would listen and offer whatever advice and encouragement that he could. And when he praised you and said, 'hang in there,' it meant a lot coming from someone who was so obviously good at what he did and cared so much about what he did.

You knew he really meant it. He was as real a person as I've ever met and I'll miss him so much.

It also sucks [and this is on me] that I never told him how much his words meant. I'm sorry about that, Ron. Thanks for everything.

RIP to one of the great ones here. Spnited's thoughts on journalism were great for a newbie to read and I enjoyed all his posts on baseball and everything else, for that matter.

My gut feels like it has a hole in it.

Dad Bobcat and I met Ron five years ago up in Toronto and liked him then. We caught up with him just last summer in Cleveland for baseball, beers and an enormous breakfast with TheSportsPredictor, kokane and a few others who made the trek. Really, we hardly knew him, but he always made us feel like kings.

    He was the king.

    He will be missed.

Actually, I think that TSP hit it on the head with Ron's own quote on the Brad Renfro thread...

"Damn, 14 pages of useless shit about a nobody actor...
    "I love this place."

I had no idea who he was in real life, but if this place is "real life" (sometimes), I enjoyed the heck out of him. RIP.

What horrible news. I never had the good fortune to meet Ron/spnited in person either, but he sounds like one in a million. A true loss for the board as well as our proud business.

And I wondered about the handle, too. My guess was that it was a soccer reference. But the truth makes so much sense.

    RIP, Ron.

Jesus. I just got it. #facepalm

I didn't know Ron, I only knew him as Spirited - up until a few months ago when it was finally pointed out to me his name was actually Spnited. But I still think Spirited fits, due to his unwavering, humorous, sometimes cantankerous debates on these threads. My condolences to those who knew him -- RIP.
