    I probably don't have much credibility because I've hardly ever posted here, but I have been a longtime reader:

    The board was better when Jones, MacGregor, Pierce, etc.. were posting. I'm not sure how anyone could disagree with that. It was a great time to be a reader here.

    That's not to say that SportsJournalists.com still isn't a worthwhile place. It is, for many reasons.

    It also probably wasn't realistic for that golden era to last. With Internet anonymity, the better angels don't usually win out, but I'll keep rooting that they do.

    I don't ever recall Pierce or Macgregor posting on SJ but agree that The Jones made a very strong contribution to the place.

    The guy I really miss is Whitlock, who was willing to go toe to toe with posters in debating the merits of his columns.
