  2. Gabbert is absolutely an awful pick at 5. Nothing to me suggests that he is going to be a quality NFL quarterback. His decision-making sucks.

I'm not sold on either Gabbert or Newton. I'm starting to come full circle and think that Locker is going to wind up being the best QB in this draft.

Maybe the owners will put a clause in the new CBA that no QBs can be drafted in the first round. That'll save teams a lot of money and headaches.

I think Newton will be good, not great.

When a guy goes No. 1 in the draft, he should be great.

But someone has to be No. 1. Sometimes, a draft's top pick might not sniff the top 10 in other years, but you're kinda stuck with it. Crappy year to have the No. 1, for sure, because nobody's going to trade much for it.

Pretty interesting on how many experts have expressed concern about Newton's work ethic.

I would bet serious money that Urban Meyer has been bad-mouthing him to scouts/GMs etc...

Likely and combined with his performance on Gruden and Year of QB, he may have cost himself the # 1 pick title.

You can just hear Meyer-- " If Newton had half the work ethic of Tebow he whould be an HOF QB. "

If you draft Newton, you should be willing to chuck your playbook and just let the guy do what he does.
I think Locker has a chance, but only if he goes someplace where he can sit and learn behind an established QB. The same could be said for pretty much all of the qbs.

How many QBs who can run a good forty time have even won a Super Bowl?

Montana, Young, maybe a young Bradshaw, maybe a young Staubach, maybe a young Favre...

Elway was not fast at all when he won his.

If I were drafting for Carolina I would try to trade down or draft AJ Green.
Newton will set them back 5 years.
