Maybe it's like XM radio and they are going offer you a better deal to stay.

That's a relief then. And congrats on the sale Lucas. I'm happy for you. I've enjoyed this place, but have been out of the industry for awhile now and just think it's time to move on.

No, not sell to you... sell you to other people. And I don't think it would be a marketing meeting. More like a computer culling keywords in your posting history, getting your name, DOB, etc, making a profile of you, then selling it to somebody. As part of a group, of course. "You" aren't that interesting. "We" are. :)

Think you're being a little paranoid there, luggie.

At least I hope so. Otherwise my random placement of my credit card numbers in various posts is going to come back to haunt me....

She's not being paranoid at all. She understands things here that most people do not. The people who purchased this site are clearly going to attempt to monotize it. If you Gmail or you have a Facebook account, your "profile" has already been sold to advertisers. It's part of life now. Most people barely know it's happening.

If you don't want that to happen you probably should not be on the internet at all.

Because for most people it has very little impact on them, if any.

I assume you all got the new ownership announcement email.

Among other things, we're being told:
Lock it in! Mark you (sic) calendars for Outing 2011. Get ready for Cubs games, dinners, drinks + catch ups. RSVP today on the message board.
    Where: Chicago
    Hotel: Double Tree (sic)
    When: July 23, 2011

Has anyone told the new guy it's customary to pick up the flight, hotel and meals for two for all those with more than 25,000 posts?

That should qualify for platinum status I would think.

    That is hilarious.

This week on SportsJournalists.com, BYH takes a passive-aggressive swipe at Outofplace when the Tampa Bay Rays move into first place. OOP responds by declaring the NFL is the superior sport because the Rays would have been able to keep their superstars, and notes that perhaps BYH likes big-market baseball because he has a small wang. BYH says if anybody knows about small wangs, it's the Jewish sci-fi fan. They are both about to be banned....but will an anti-fantasy sports poster unite them on a thread about Van Halen? All this plus mr. bio posting all his shit, this week on SportsJournalists.com!

When posters stop being polite, and start being real. SportsJournalists.com.
