The UFC have agreed a seven year TV deal with Fox, which includes four network specials a year.

Those who have posted the many variations of the "UFC is a fad that won't last" theme on here since about 2005 or so don't seem to have much to say.

 

Interesting to see Fox expanding FX's sports offerings now with this on top of the college football they have planned.

 

Thank God my market is losing its Fox affiliate.

Hasn't CBS been doing some prime-time specials too on occasion? Isn't that what Gus Johnson was doing between hoops and football?

Their coverage doesn't seem to be causing that much of a ripple other than to the already-converted.

The CBS specials, which seem to have fallen by the wayside, were with a secondary brand. The UFC is the brand leader and Zuffa (the UFC's parent company) with one or two exceptions has most of the major MMA stars under contract.

From the way Dana White has been talking it does appear that Fox are really going to be pushing the UFC and getting behind it. The deal is rumoured to be worth somewhere between ninety and one hundred million dollars a year. So, it's not an insignificant investment on Fox's part.
