Pretty much all of those things are as likely as Derek Jeter hitting 40 home runs in a season. He never came close. If he could have done it, he would have. He couldn't. Deal with it.

Let's see. Why would Jeter be jealous.

The three MVP awards would be a place to start. So is the fact that Rodriguez was a MUCH better shortstop than Jeter. It was never even close.

Oh, but Manky wanted to tell us about Jeter's on-base percentage. Funny thing. Even though Jeter has the higher career average (.313 to .303), Rodriguez has the higher on-base percentage (.386-.383). Oh, and Jeter the great leadoff man? He has fewer runs scored than Rodriguez, too. Rodriguez has 1,823 to Jeter's 1,768.

Oh, and those steals? Even though Jeter spent much of his career batting first or second while Rodriguez was in the heart of the order, Captain Intangibles only has 34 more steals (339-305). Doesn't quite make up for the advantage of nearly 400 home runs that Rodriguez has over your hero, does it?

Five minutes on baseballreference.com, Manky. If you're going to keep this foolishness up, please at least make an effort next time, ok? Even I'm getting bored with this.

Scream steroids all you want, but everybody knows Alex Rodriguez has been a much better player than your hero Jeter could have ever dreamed of being.

To truly answer the question of who was better we'd have to know what ARod's career would look like without chemical enhancement. And who knows.

That's all you've got? Man, you're slipping.

No, we don't need to know that. Those hits still fell in. Those home runs still went out. Those plays in the field that Jeter couldn't even come close to making still got made.

Just face it. Your hero made things as difficult as he possibly could for Rodriguez out of jealousy. He knew he was the inferior player. Just like everybdoy else knows it. Except you, of course.

And it also goes to show how Jeter isn't a good person. Look how many girls he has dated. Look how many have been able to stand him long enough to want to make it last. ZERO. He literally is failing with every girl he dates.

If you've read Buster Olney's book there are quotes from several Yankees attesting that Jeter could be a 30-40 homer per year guy if he chose to. Obviously he contributes in other ways...In 2000 there were dozens of guys that could hit 30+ homers, he had a rarer skill - posting on base percentages of .400 or better at the top of the lineup and stealing 30 or more bases a year.

ARod chose to roid up. He needs to own that. What Jeter has to do with that, I have no idea.

Yeah, but you should see the girls that Jeter's replacement nails. They just do not stack up. A Manhattan 10 is so much better than a Seacaucus 7. Jeter has a huge BAR (Babe Against Replacement).

Schmidt could play in this era. He has admitted that if steroids were readily available in the 1970s, he would have used. I'm sure Rose would have injected also.

I was talking about his personalITY, Einstein. I've read probably 30-40 books about the Beatles and Lennon. So yeah, I've got a pretty good take on what he was like. He was a miserable prick most of his life. It wasn't until the last five years after his son Sean was born that he became a decent person. He stepped away from music and the whole celebrity thing and become a stay-at-home dad. So yeah, I do know enough about him to speak with some authority. You, on the other hand, are telling us you know Pete Rose well enough to say he'd have taken steroids without a doubt? Yeah, sure you do. Read any of the Rose books? His own book or the Dowd report book? I have.

Thanks for the history lesson on Lennon. He's your idol, fine...but I've never cared to read up on the life of a singer who had about a half dozen good songs. In terms of talent I'd put him on the same level as maybe George Michael.

Thanks to steroids, it's not an apples-to-apples comparison.

A-Roid is a cheater. How you can say people will look back and see he was a MUCH better player than Jeter, when there is no way to accurately assess what portion of A-Roid's career statistics were the result of superior chemistry?

I know there's a lot of irrational hatred of Jeter here, and I'm the first to admit a lot of the "Captain Intangibles" stuff has been blown way out of proportion, but at least the guy didn't cheat. His numbers are what he earned for better or worse, and unlike A-Rod, he won't have an enormous asterisk attached to his name when he enters the HOF.

Who knows how many more home runs and RBIs Jeter could've had if he had sold his baseball soul to steroids? But he didn't because he's got one thing A-Rod has never had: integrity.
