After this week of chaos I think Georgia Southern should get votes in the AP poll again, that the SEC west really is as good as they think they are, and that Oregon, Ok and Ok St. need to realize that at some point in a season you are going to have to play SOME defense.
As for those hoping for the BCS (er, BSC) implosion of Arky beating LSU, and Bama getting beat by Georgia in the SEC title game, I think you need to look at that Georgia team. They have made a great comeback this year from the 0-2 start, but look at the schedule, look at the fact they do not have a tailback, and they are Georgia, they might lose to GA. Tech next week.

The game you were all concerned about is now over. Fresno top Hawaii 24-21.

    How far does Houston jump?

That will be insane if Stanford or Va. Tech can get back in this.

    . . . we'll be here all week.

We'll pat ourselves on the back once a year, and this is it.

Houston will likely remain below Boise State, which should mean being ranked eighth. The Cougars' best win so far this year was against UCLA in the season opener. They do have two legitimately tough (or as legitimately tough as Conference USA provides) opponents coming up as the head to Tulsa and, if they win that, face Southern Mississippi in the C-USA title game. Those are the Cougars' two toughest games of the season. Tulsa's only losses this year are to Boise State, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State, and they've blown out most other opponents.

Stanford's computer numbers are awful. And really, have the Cardinal impressed you? Virginia Tech has only a slightly stronger computer profile (that will improve if it wins out, unlike Stanford's). But the Hokies are hurt by Harris Poll voters who entering this week had them two spots below Stanford.

Richard Billingsley's computer rankings had Stanford sixth, ahead of No. 7 Arkansas. But Billingsley was alone in having Stanford in the top nine, and each team's top and bottom computer rankings are not factored into the BCS. No one had Virginia Tech ahead of Arkansas.

Oklahoma State has a strong computer profile and could theoretically sneak in if the writers and coaches are strong-headed enough to keep the No. 2 SEC West team out of their top-five for no reason other than to prevent the SEC West national title game. The same method could put Virginia Tech in, but I don't think the coaches would ever go along with this kind of meddling. They have a different view of the poll's responsibility and tend to be very hesitant to movie teams down without losing.

I don't disagree that he's generally unlikable, but he's also posted more 10-win seasons (two) in five years than Houston Nutt did in 10 (one).
