    merriam-webster.com is my go-to.

    Jell, however. It's seriously one of my biggest pet peeves, and the writers I've worked with in 12 years have never gotten it right.

    I was positive AP covered it, but they don't. But the Sports Style Guide & Reference Manual does:

    gel Gel is the incorrect word to denote a team's ability to work together. The correct spelling is jell.
    The team began to jell late in the season.

    The writer had it correct originally, and it was changed to something you couldn't show was correct? Bad form.
