    Really? That's depressing...

If it's true that theyve already contacted the finalists, I'm disappointed. Has anyone heard back? Was it via email/mail/phone call?

I emailed Bill Hill in early-December, and he told me decisions wouldn't be made until mid-January.

If you didnt make the first cut, it wouldn't men Bill Hill is lying. The applicant pile has to be whittled down before January.

True, but I doubt this many people could have missed the first cut.

Anybody here actually make the supposed first cut?

Guys, don't worry about the supposed first cut or not getting the job. I've spent enough time around this board to know that on every job there is plenty of speculation and plenty of the "final word" that may or may not prove accurate. You applied. Like with any job, you should hang in there until you hear you're out of the running. Don't be a pest. In the end, it doesn't make a difference. You want the internship; that's why you applied. But you have to have confidence in what you submitted and believe in your own merits. Because some finalists were contacted and you weren't doesn't mean you are out of the running. It also certainly doesn't mean you're still in it. But worrying about what has been said on a message board about Ricky Rickshaw from Ricks College in Rexburg, Idaho, being a finalist is not a productive use of your time. Someone earlier asked what other internships to apply for. Focus on that idea. Who ELSE can I sell myself to in case MLB.com takes a pass? It's a stressful thing, applying for internships and job. Doesn't mean you should lose yourself in the process.

I got an email on Dec. 23 saying I was one of about 60 finalists. It looked like a mass message, so I'm guessing that everyone that made the cut got it. I also know that MLB has notified applicants that didn't make it in the past, so hang in there and maybe you'll hear something.

Given some of what I've seen here, I hope they have some very good editors. Actually, I know some of them so I know they do.

Me too, dude. With 400 applicants, though, the odds weren't in our favor.

It stings, sure, but things happen for a reason.
