Craig James and Ned Jarrett wonder what all the fuss is about.

Nantz and Kellogg were talking at the beginning of the Lehigh-Xavier game--apparently UNC's Kendall Marshall broke his right wrist in the Creighton game. Didn't hear anything about prognosis.

Since I don't have anything better to do, I looked up each tournament bracket going back to 1993 to see just how often Duke and/or UNC played the opening weekend in North Carolina.

Here's the list, with their seeds:

    2012- Greensboro Duke- 1, UNC- 1
    2011- Charlotte UNC- 2, Duke- 1
2010- None (Duke- 1 to Jacksonville)
    2009- Greensboro UNC- 1, Duke- 2
    2008- Raleigh- UNC- 1 (Duke-2 to D.C.)
    2007- Winston-Salem UNC- 1 (Duke- 6 to Buffalo)
2006- Greensboro Duke- 1 (UNC- 3 to Dayton)
    2005- Charlotte Duke- 1, UNC- 1
2004- Raleigh- Duke- 1 (UNC- 6 to Denver)
2003- None (Duke- 3 to Salt Lake)
    2002- None (Duke- 1 to Greenville, S.C.)

    Pod system starts in 2002

2001- Greensboro Duke- 1 (UNC- 2 to New Orleans)
    2000- Winston-Salem Duke- 1 (UNC- 8 to Birmingham)
    1999- Charlotte Duke – 1 (UNC- 3 to Seattle)
1998- None (UNC- 1 to Hartford, Duke- 8 to Lexington)
    1997- Charlotte Duke- 2; Winston-Salem UNC- 1
1996- None (Duke-8 to Indianapolis, UNC- 6 to Richmond)
1995- None (UNC- 2 to Tallahassee)
1994*- None (Duke- 2 to St. Petersburg, UNC- 1 Landover, Md.)
    1993- Winston-Salem UNC- 1 (Duke- 3 to Rosemont, Ill.)
    *- Final Four in Charlotte

Prior to 2002 it wasn't possible for both of them to play at the same site on the opening weekend but since the advent of the pod system at least one of them has played in North Carolina in each of the eight seasons there has been a site there and both of them have played at the same site in four of those eight years.

Also, since '02 each team has only had to travel out of the Eastern time zone once to play on the opening weekend.

Also, if I'm reading this right, there have only been 6 instances where either team has been lower than a 3 seed since 1993 and at least one of them has been a No. 1 seed every year but one since 2002.

  4. It's true. Fractured wrist. No comment until after seeing hand specialist. If he's out, UNC's in big trouble. The backup PG can shoot the 3, but he's a 6'0" freshman. He'd never see the floor if Strickland and McDonald weren't injured.

Good thing Ohio is on spring break or Athens would burn to the ground tonight.

Good to see the Beakers get their special brand of bullshit officiating wherever they go in the Midwest. Travels ignored, hard fouls called flagrant... and Self is still the whiny-ist bitch this side of Scott Drew.

On the downside, Ohio will have to play the Sweet 16 with PK dangling from their collective scrotum. Good luck defending dragging around that deadweight.

Good seats still available in Greensboro. The Coliseum brass must be despondent over the loss of the Duke draw.

And it continues. Beakers pull down on the net whilst a Purdue player goes up and under... no goaltending/basket interference... but they were all over the phantom Purdue foul off the ball.

And Robinson is getting mugged by two or three guys every time he touches the ball. Shitty defense against Hummel is why KU is losing though.
