I think I speak for everyone who has ever had the good fortune to hear him on radio or TV when I say HIRE HIM RIGHT FUCKING NOW!!!!

Is there really hate out their for Gottlieb on ESPN? I'm not saying I think he'd be a good coach or that any power-conference team should give him a shot, but everyone I know likes him in his current role.

I think he definitely knows basketball, and that comes across on his radio shows and various other appearances.

Yes, lots and lots of hate. And if you follow him closely enough you'll find he flip-flops better than any politician could possibly imagine.

I've seen him be lucid and rational at times but sadly those moments represent the minority.

The rest of the Big 12 applauds this hire.

Considering how well he handled being in Bill Self's shadow at Illinois, this seems like a perfect fit.

And once again, I'm pretty sure Jeff Goodman had that first.

    Yeah. Frank Haith rules.

At least when Weber inherited a great team, he did better than the Round o' 64.

By no means am I predicting any kind of long-term success for Weber, but depending on defections and whatnot, K-State should make the tourney and could easily win a couple games. If there's one thing Weber seems to have the ability to do, it's win with someone else's team.

We know Norfolk State beat Mizzou. Kinda hard to dispute ...

But given the way many here were slamming the hire of Frank Haith, one would have thought Mizzou wouldn't have gotten even that far. One might have thought ... about Illinois and where it is now.

Bruce Weber comes across as a nice guy, the sort who can be trusted, the sort who exudes class in just about any circumstance. I hope he does well in Manhattan. But people were questioning the Haith hire in Columbia, yet say nothing about Weber landing in Manhattan after being fired in Champaign-Urbana?

To say Illinois is a little better equipped to succeed in basketball than Miami is an understatement.
