If I had to guess, I'd say you're over-qualified. From what I've heard about these guys, if you're even marginally competent, you're way out of their league.

 

Hoping this post will bump thread to the top. If this doesn't do it, would appreciate it if someone did given they're now in the news. Journatic is run by POS's in concert with Tribune's POS's who want to pay people a third of what a lot of laid-off people were making.

Here's money graf with link to now-infamous story they are paying their reporters and editors $50 - four times the hourly Journatic rate - not to talk to reporters.

The Chicago Reader's Michael Miner today published a story on the Journatic-Tribune deal, noting that Journatic executive editor Peter Behle sent employees a notice a month ago that said, in part, “Reporters will be sniffing around — and they are not authorized to talk with anyone about Journatic under any circumstances. Better yet, if you receive a reporter inquiry and tell us about it (without responding), we'll pay you a $50 bonus."

These guys obviously have something to hide. A couple of weeks ago on journalismjobs.com, the word 'Journatic' was scrubbed from their journalismjobs.com ads, just a generic email address "helloapply@gmail.com" Now it looks like their ads have disappeared completely from the site

I suspect this goes beyond box scores. Would not be surprised if Journatic picks up the desk work the much heralded Chicago "Mod Squad" is f-ing up in Baltimore, Hartford, Allentown, Newport News and elsewhere.

 

I have a feeling "news gathering" is trolling real estate listings, police reports, school news items, basically you will just be retyping or relinking info for "readers" to have.

 

On the bright side, it shouldn't be hard to get some quotes from Heywood Jablome into their stories.

Thanks for the link. Nice of Curt Mercadante to post the only positive spin on Journatic.

He somehow fails to mention he's a buddy of Journatic COO Eddie Weinhaus. Not so nice. He is also one of Timpone's few (sixteen) followers on Google + as well. Somewhat biased?

Looks like they're tired of journalismjobs.com. They are now advertising these jobs on craigslist. I wish someone would tell them copy editor is two words.
