Today is (was?) the last day for the guy who's leaving. Good people here and a great area.

 

I'm no engineer, but I think you could just swap desks with one of them, no?

 

Only an old-gun would come up with that solution.

 

What is the latest on this position? Have they even started conducting interviews?

 

Heard an offer was made to a candidate this past week. Position could be filled very soon.

 

Believe this position has been filled. Hired someone internally from Lee.

 

Matt Coss will be the new addition to the Times sports staff.

 

If it's the Matt Coss from Muscatine, Iowa, he only had to move about 45 minutes.

 

It is. Has worked in Mason City, Waterloo and most recently in Muscatine - all Lee papers.

 

I didn't switch for two reasons. 1. Those ladies have been here 20+ years. 2. When I got the job they informed me I would be moving to the back of the office (in a large cubby hole, basically) after the new carpet was installed.

Worked out well. My new spot in the office is just what I needed. It's a corner spot that isn't in view of the front door meaning, if I tell the front desk lady I'm not here..no visitors!

 

This will mean that the SE job at Muscatine is open.
