Your Regional Finals are.... (votes due middle next week, I'll be flexible to give everyone time to vote) and I'm hoping to see both 3 seeds advance

    SOUTH

YGBFKM got it right, but … the name of the record is "Anodyne," not "Anodynne."

And it's brilliant, but I actually think Still Feel Gone is better.

    EAST
    1. No Depression - Uncle Tupelo vs. 3. Strangers Almanac - Whiskeytown — Both great albums, but until it's knocked out, "No Depression" is my champ. Just listened to it recently, still kicks ass. It was a hugely influential record, too.

    MIDWEST
    1. Trace - Son Volt vs. 2. AM - Wilco — When these two came out at roughly the same time, it looked like Farrar and company would have the more promising career. Didn't work out that way, but "Trace" is still one of the 1990s best albums.

    SOUTH
    1. Being There - Wilco vs. 3 Too Far To Care - Old 97s — This, on the other hand, showed the way forward for Tweedy and his ever-revolving cast of musicians in Wilco. RIP, Jay Bennett.

    WEST
1.Anodyne - Uncle Tupelo vs. 6. Pneumonia - Whiskeytown — Just can't bring myself to vote for all the No. 1 seeds, even though Anodyne (correction noted) was a great album. Whiskeytown made some great music and deserves a Final Four spot (as did a couple other bands we lost along the way in this tourney).

    EAST
    3. Strangers Almanac - Whiskeytown -- my favorite album here

    MIDWEST
    1. Trace - Son Volt --the very first alt-country (whatever that is) album I purchased.

    SOUTH
    1. Being There - Wilco -- Wilco's last alt-country stand and even then just barely

    WEST
    6. Pneumonia - Whiskeytown -- I'm pretty sure I'm gay for Ryan Adams

Yup...I'm in your camp. That and when Mandy Moore was on Craig Ferguson a while back she said when he is not recording or playing live...he listens to death metal mostly. Awesome!

Just got a PM for the final votes. With so few voters, I waited for others to vote and again denied myself a chance to cast tiebreaking votes.

    EAST
    1. No Depression - Uncle Tupelo 4
    3. Strangers Almanac - Whiskeytown 3
(I was rooting for Strangers Almanac and am sorry to see it fall)

    MIDWEST
    1. Trace - Son Volt 5
    2. AM - Wilco 2

    SOUTH
    1. Being There - Wilco 4
    3 Too Far To Care - Old 97s 3
(I was rooting for Too Far To Care and am sorry to see this one fall too)

    WEST
    6. Pneumonia - Whiskeytown 5
    1.Anodyne - Uncle Tupelo 2
