Looks like The Jets have finally come to the realization that some of their ticket pricing was a reach:

"As a Jets Season Ticket Holder, we wanted to inform you of new significantly reduced season ticket prices. Select seats in the 300-level previously priced at $105 and $95 per game for season tickets have been reduced to $75 and $50 per game on a season ticket basis."

Seems like a rare and humbling admission for an NFL team.

How will they ever afford Tebow?

They have had more bark than bite in the time Rex has been there, but this looks like it just applies to the cheap seats.

    Any major pro sports team.

50 percent drop on some seats when they averaged 95 percent capacity last season? Very surprising.

Wonder if it will spread to other pro franchises (ahem, Yankees, cough, cough).

I should amend to note that the Jets ranked 21st in average capacity percentage. 95 percent wasn't as good as I had assumed.

The miracle of the marketplace: if you can't sell all your tickets at $105, you better drop your prices.

Its rare that the market place affects NFL teams.

That isn't true at all. More than half the league deals with the possibility of blackouts at least once a year. There are discount tickets all over the place.
