    Sports Reporter, Sun Sentinel
The Sun Sentinel seeks a reporter to cover the Miami Dolphins. This reporter, based in South Florida, will be the second person of a two-member team covering the Dolphins. The successful candidate will cover games; write breaking news, features, and enterprise stories; shoot and edit video; contribute to blogs; create and manage content for the web; promote the Sun Sentinel's coverage through broadcast appearances, and use social media as a journalistic tool.

We're looking for a versatile, talented reporter who knows how to juggle multiple assignments and can conceive and execute good ideas on deadline. Strong digital skills are expected, including the ability to shoot, edit and appear on video and to assist in management of Dolphins content on our website. This job will require strong reporting, writing and digital skills.

Send cover letter, resume, 5 clips and examples of your best digital work to:

They wanted to fill this in-house, but I guess the person they wanted didn't want to make the move.

I thought it was a little late to be looking for someone with the season already kicking off?

If true, would be a tremendous move up from being a freelancer for Fox Sports Florida.

Veering way off topic: Could you freelance for one of the Fox Sports sites and survive? I've heard the pay for full-time writers isn't great, but FSF relies quite a bit on freelancers.

Perkins was the Heat writer for the Palm Beach Post for many years before he got laid off when the team got rid of the beat a year or two before LeBron came. Then they added it again when LeBron signed. Perkins has also worked at the Sun-Sentinel before.
Good guy, glad to see he has a fulltime job again.

  10. Chris is a great guy.....very happy for him

It is great to see that happen, because lord knows it doesn't happen enough... The last two hires by Orlando and South Florida are both great writers who, through no fault of their own, had been let go by Palm Beach.

It's great to see them land on their feet.
