Cape Cod Times says reporter fabricated people for stories

Sad that she had to do this and it was odd this took 14 years to actually do something.

 

What's so weird is that the stories cited by the paper as fabricated were coverage of relatively large events chock-full of real people to interview.

 

Why would Peter Griffin do that?

 

She never would have been caught if she hadn't quoted Haywood Jablome 69 times.

 

I think reporters do this for several reasons:

1. They are lazy.
2. They want the perfect quote for their stories and real people aren't working for them.
3. They are afraid to approach random people and talk to them.
4. The figure no one will ever find out.

 

5. All of the above

 

6. Publisher too cheap to buy 3D printer.

 

Send pups to Trenton for a year or two to learn how to approach people.

Everything after that is gravy.

 

Cape Cod is not a big place. I'm really surprised it took so long to discover this.

 

This is like a real-life season 5 of The Wire. Crazy. One of the stories Scott Templeton was sent out to do was the Orioles home opener.
